Advance through an Articulation Agreement from Shenandoah University to a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MS-PAS) Graduate Degree Program.
Shenandoah University’s undergraduate College of Arts and Science has established an articulation agreement with its School of Health Professions as a partnership in providing a pathway to graduate admission. Only full-time, enrolled undergraduate Shenandoah University (SU) students, who are currently earning a baccalaureate degree from SU, are eligible to be considered for a set number of reserved seats.
Admission Requirements
For admission into Shenandoah University’s Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies Program, candidates must:
- Submit a completed admission application available through the Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistant (CASPA) (http://caspa.liaisoncas.com). The completed application must satisfy all criteria for the MSPAS Program as outlined in the Admissions Guidelines posted on the PA Program website each year.
- Submit a completed and verified application to CASPA by June 25th the year before matriculation into the MSPAS program and before degree conferral.
- Successfully pass the interview portion of the application with a combined score of at least 25.
The application deadline for the program is June 25th of the year before matriculation. Students who have a baccalaureate degree conferred before the completed application is submitted and verified are not eligible.
Admissions Process
Up to a total of five candidates per year from Shenandoah University, who meet the criteria for admission through the Articulation Agreement will be granted priority status for admission to the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program at Shenandoah University and offered an interview and seat. As with all other applicants to the program, priority applicants must complete all aspects of the admissions process including the interview.
All Shenandoah students who meet the Articulation Agreement criteria and the criteria for program admissions who submit a complete and verified application by June 25 will be offered an interview in the first round. If more than 5 students meet the application deadline and requirements, Shenandoah University’s Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies Program will rank-order all priority applicants based on their total application score. Program seat offers will be made to the top 5 candidates, and all other applicants will be entered back into the regular applicant pool for consideration in the established rolling process. If fewer than 5 candidates apply, they must also pass the interview to be considered for a seat offer; application under the Articulation Pathway is not a guarantee of admission. There will be no consideration of Articulation Seats in the second or third round of interviews.
Campus location preference will be offered based on the availability of preference selected by the applicant as part of the completed CASPA application.
All decisions for Admission into the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program are made by the Admissions Committee. Final decisions for all applicants are based on consideration of the full set of application materials and the evaluations from the admissions interview. Applicants who have been interviewed will be notified in writing of the Admissions Committee’s decisions within 30 days of their visit.
Candidates may be given provisional acceptance indicating that some of the admissions requirements need to be completed prior to matriculation into the program. Provisional acceptances are offered to those students completing final prerequisite courses or degrees prior to the program entry. Provisionally accepted candidates receive communication at the time of the seat offer outlining the requirements for full acceptance and matriculation.
Nothing in this agreement is intended to negate the usual process of student evaluation or supersede final decisions on admissions. After successful completion of the curriculum, Shenandoah University awards a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
This agreement is intended to be a long-term arrangement. Each party may continue or discontinue this agreement on a yearly basis with notice. Shenandoah University requires two-year notice for changes in prerequisites to provide adequate protection for students in a pre-physician assistant course of study.
